Travelling gluten free in Czech Republic

Are you going on a holiday to Czech Republic and looking for the best gluten-free spots? Look no further! We have gathered all necessary information for gluten free in Czech Republic in one easy overview.

Czech coeliac dietary explanation

Mám celiakii, a proto ze zdravotních důvodů musím dodržovat bezlepkovou dietu, tzn. že nesmím jíst potraviny, které obsahují lepek.

Lepek obsahují potraviny z pšenice, žita, ječmene, špaldy, kamutu či ovsa a dále potraviny z nich vyrobené jako mouka, krupice, strouhanka, chléb, pečivo, těstoviny, knedlíky, omáčky, oplatky apod.

When you go shopping, ask for the shelf with the “bezlepkové výrobky” and look for a crossed grain symbol. Many products have various kinds of a crossed grain symbol on their packaging. You should avoid buying products with one of the following ingredients on their labels:

Ječmen Barley
Žito Rye

Slad Malt

Also avoid buying anything that says “smažený/smažené” on its label.

Bringing extra gluten-free products along is reasonable if you are not going to spend your holidays in Prague or in bigger cities as it might be difficult to find gluten-free products in smaller towns.
